The air carries the dry, comforting scent of parchment, dust, ink, and old wood, and your footsteps seem strangely loud against the surrounding hush. Tall rolling ladders stand against the highest shelves, their wooden wheels occasionally creaking as someone searches among the upper rows, while broad tables line the edges of the hall beneath the warmer light of lamps and candles, scattered with quills, notes, and open books left by scholars deep in their work.
Pages turn softly somewhere out of sight, pens scratch against parchment, and every so often the silence is broken by the muted thump of a heavy book closing. Somewhere among these countless shelves may be the knowledge you seek, if you know where to look. What do you do?”
