Hello everyone! For past month or so we’ve been hard at work on our new module that we believe will make browsing and importing our maps m
Our Foundry module makes use of all the standard Foundry features. So walls and lights are set up with ambient audio tuned to reflect the environment. As well as properly integrated Foreground layer and overhead tiles, so things from trees to the shadows themselves affect tokens in an immersive way.
—— Installation ——
Copy & Paste this Manifest link in Foundry’s Module Manager to install the Module:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Forgotten-Adventures/FA_Battlemaps/main/module.json
If you need a step by step installation guide you can find it here: https://github.com/Forgotten-Adventures/FA_Battlemaps#installation
—— How to Use ——
To open the module interface click the “FA Battlemaps” button at the bottom of the Scenes panel. You can also open the interface in the module settings and disable this button if you wish.

Downloading & Importing Scenes
-
Choose a map you would like to import and click the “Download” button.
-
Wait until the loading and download of all associated assets is finished and you see a “[Map name] has been imported successfully.” popup.
-
Enjoy!

Patreon Login – Premium Maps Access
-
Open the module interface
-
Click on “Login with Patreon” button to authenticate with patreon (Sucessful authentication turns the button green) which allows you to download Premium ( Patreon only ) maps – You must be a Battlesmith or higher Patreon supporter of FA_Battlemaps.

-
Patreon login has to authenticate through a browser window. Make sure you are logged in on Patreon in your browser before attempting the authentication.
-
If you get an Authentication Error in the browser window, just close it and click the button in the module again. Patreon API can be a bit wonky sometimes.
-
Free Maps do not require Patreon authentication to be downloaded/imported.
Module Settings
Module Settings allow you to
-
Open the interface
-
Disable the “FA Battlemaps” button at the bottom of the scenes panel
-
To activate “Download High Quality Maps”

—— Battlemaps ——
Battlemaps in the module are fully integrated for use with Foundry VTT. Featuring extra capabilities using Monk’s Active Tile Triggers and Tagger for truly dynamic scenes!
Features & Functions
Using a combination of the Active Tiles and Tagger, we can dynamically shape the encounter. Smaller map elements can be triggered by their nearby switches with a double click.
Lighting:
Each light source in our maps is setup individually. We felt it was more intuitive to double click on the light source itself. This will activate the foundry light and also associated tile which has some baked in lighting that enhances the effects.

Overlay Tiles Trigger Switches:
Similarly to Lights, you can find various triggers around the maps which you can double click to activate/deactivate small scale Overlay Tiles.
Maybe a plank of wood breaks underfoot, or the players can see what treasure lies within the chest.

Furthermore, some maps have our “Control Scroll” on the right hand side of the map. Similar to the Trigger Switches, these switches are for more dramatic changes to the map.
Maybe the encounter changes in a dramatic way, or you want to set up a variation of the map ahead of time to suit your needs. The text color changes, so it is easy for you to see what is inactive or active.

These switches are kept in the foreground, hidden from player view, and by default we have set everything to be double clicked by the GM, just to reduce the chance of any accidental triggering by yourself or the player.
Dependencies:
As mentioned above, we have couple of module dependencies which are required for things to work properly, you should have these modules installed and activated alongside ours.

Forgotten Adventures Battlemaps Module V1.1
WARNING, module is now Foundry v12 only. Future module updates and map releases will NOT be backwards compatible with older versions of Foundry.
-
Added method to set custom download path in module settings. Folder path is relative to FVTT user data path. For storing files in an s3 bucket, enter the full https:// style url. Changing this value only impacts new downloads and won’t move existing files.
-
Added support for Ripper93s, Media optimiser module.
-
Consistency pass on all maps: Tile Image fixes, Background colour adjustments, scroll image adjustments, lighting adjustments, audio adjustments.
-
All scenes extensively tagged to no longer rely on UUIDs: Maps should now be able to be stored and exported from personal compendiums without causing scene errors.
-
Foreground Tile setting changes in all scenes to function nicely with V12 implementation.
-
Added proximity walls to all scenes where relevant, such as windows.
-
Added door sounds to all scenes where relevant
-
Added New Scene Regions to all scenes where relevant, most notably for variable scene darkness and blocking weather.”
